What is Quadrennial Code of Ethics Training?
“Members of the National Association of REALTORS® are required to complete periodic ethics training of not less than 2 hours and 30 minutes of instructional time once every four years. Boards/Associations are required to provide access to such programs to members either on their own, in conjunction with other Boards/Associations, or through some other method (such as home study, correspondence or internet based courses). Any course offered by a Board/Association, regardless of format, must meet the learning objectives and minimum criteria for such courses as established by the National Association of REALTORS® from time to time.” From the NAR website http://www.realtor.org/MemPolWeb.nsf/pages/CoEContinuingEd?OpenDocument#OutlinetoBody By the end of this year all of our REALTOR® members will need to complete the Code of Ethics training to be in compliance with our bylaws. This quadrennial period begins 1/1/2009 through 12/31/2012. If you have taken COE training after January 1, 2009 you have complied with the quadrennial requirement. If you have not taken the COE training between 1/1/2009 and now, you will need to before December 31, 2012. Lucky for you we have a Code of Ethics class coming up on Wednesday, March 28th here in Jefferson County (see attached registration form). The benefit of taking this class is that you will receive clock hours, interaction with your peers, and of course knowledge! If you’re not interested in clock hours and interaction with your peers you can still take the Code of Ethics training through the NAR site for free. Either way, make sure it is completed before December 31, 2012! To find out if you have completed the Code of Ethics training for this quadrennial, log on to the NAR site (sorry, I don’t have access to your password) and check your Education record. Any class that you have taken through the JCAR/WR partnership should be recorded. I also have compiled the info so you can shoot me an email and I can let you know the date of your last class.
